Summary

The adventure begins, my first video playing Pokemon Moon. I do not commentate on anything as to let the viewer (you) enjoy the full experience of the play through. Pokemon Moon has a reverse day and night cycle so in the day it is night and in the night it is day.

Some restrictions I put on myself during this play-through were that I would not be using the exp share, as it levels up all Pokemon in the party and makes the game too easy.

The game starts, I create my character and choose Popplio as my starter Pokemon. Popplio is the water type starter.

In this video I learn what a powerhouse Popplio is in terms of it's special attack and proceed to wipe everything away with water gun. A move it has initially when you get it at level 5. I also managed to catch a Pikipek, a flying type who unfortunately did not get much of the lime light due to the star appearance of Popplio.

At the end of the episode, we meet our rival Pokemon trainer Hau, who chooses the starter weak to your starter, in this case Litten, a fire type. He also had the electric mouse Pichu.

There were quite a few cut-scenes in this part, and not much battling to give people time to see what kind of characters are being put into the game. We eventually head to a preschool where the protagonist, (us) starts relentless beating on the preschool children's Pokemon with Popplio and Pikipek.

Along the way, Professor Kukui, gives us a Rotom, whom honestly I thought acted like a dog. he was my pokedex, but wasn't actually registered in my pokedex, which I was kind of bummed about.

I thought I had beaten everyone inside of the school, but the game and the teacher told me otherwise. I wasn't allowed to go upstairs until I beat absolutely everyone!

Right there was a point where I caught a Magnemite, and I did consider using it,but it seemed to be a bit frail despite it's steel and electric typing, so it does eventually end up in a Pokemon Center box. (PC Box).

After finally beating everyone, we head upstairs to find that the teacher will let us pass after a battle in the next part.

We beat the teacher and head off to Hauolil City, where we are given a look at the long forgotten game of taking pictures of Pokemon. Pokemon Snap was a game originally made for the Nintendo 64, and was popular among young 90's kids like myself. They implemented something similar into this game, which i'm sure many people appreciated, but it had a lot to be desired.

There were no apples, no smoke bombs, and limitations on where you could pull out your camera. It was still nice to see this for nostalgic purposes for people like myself.

In this part of the play-through, we meet team skull the main group with a crazy plan, and some of the funniest teams in the Pokemon series.

We meet a bunch of Delibirds on a berry farm because they like berries apparently? Many battles with a bunch of passerby non playable characters (NPCs), and progress with the adventure was made.

We finally get our first trial, finally! This trial has to do with beating all of the Alolan Rattatas that hide in the holes around the cave. The Totem Pokemon is indeed an Alolan Raticate, whom like Alolan Rattata is a dark and normal type.

Thankfully, the technical machine (TM) for brick break a 70 base power physical fighting move is conveniently in the cave as well. Pikipek was able to learn it.

Team skull makes an appearance and actually helps with the trial, thank you team skull. :)

During this episode, no joke there were so many wild Pokemon. Every few steps, it wasn't just Zubats like many people who played the first games (Pokemon Yellow/Blue/Green/Red) 1st Gen People as I will refer to them, but so many wild encounters really stacks up after a while, no matter what Pokemon it is.

Pikipek evolved into Trumbeak, so it wasn't all bad, evolved Pokemon are often superior to their lower forms in terms of stats. We also catch an Alolan Diglett, whose typing is steel and ground. Another reason I will put Magnemite in the PC box in the future. I also managed to catch a Growlithe, a reliable fire type Pokemon

In this part we meet back up with Lily, and Nebby, the catch is, Nebby is somewhere far on the other side of the meadow. Dang it Nebby! Since Lily has no Pokemon, and Nebby only knows splash, we proceeded to get Nebby back into Lily's bag.

We catch ourselves a Petilil, which is a reliable grass type Pokemon. It also creates the strong water, fire, grass core, for many battles in the future. We also beat Hau again, and his theme song started getting stuck in my head.

The Kahuna was no joke, his crabrawler would come in at the worst time and use it's super z move, again, I wasn't too inclined to use a z move, but holy crap that crab knows how to fight.

We get a Tauros pager, and move from one island to the Akala island. There we get to meet two people, one who gives out the grass trial, and the second Grand Trial person.

So as it turns out, Petilil doesn't get many grass type moves until later on. I tried seeding the opposing Pokemon with leech seed, a move that allows you to restore health by sapping 1/16 of the opponents hp and adding half of that to your own. Petilil was so close, but close didn't get any experience (Exp.)

We fight Hau again, at this point I was wondering how many times I would see him strike the same pose with the surfing theme song. It was kind of funny hearing it so many times, in any case, he has a Pikachu, evolved from his Pichu, and a Torracat, evolved from his Litten.

So we get to a ranch here and this Tauros, he is just mad, you ever hear of mad cow disease? Well this was some angry meat. Funny thing happened during this part, I crit him on the first move and his ability anger point, maximized his attack, basically his attack went as high as it could go because I crit him. At this point I thought he was going to knock out (KO) my entire team, but thankfully he used a weak move before going down.

Alright, so imagine here that you've just been through heck, your team is on low health, you're on the verge of not having anything to heal them with, and right there before your eyes is the holy grail, the light you have been searching for, a hospital, for Pokemon, the Pokemon Center! This was my situation, and just as I was rushing to it, guess who?

Ah yes, Team Skull boss fight, Gladion appears and decided to tear me a new one. I was kinda sad at this point, but hey, at least gamefreak still knows how to surprise it's players with a prompt boss fight.

Finally here at the second trial, we also get a new pager, a Lapras. Big prehistoric looking Pokemon resembling Plesiosaurs. The trial Pokemon on this trial was Wishiwashi, it doesn't evolve.

However, this doesn't stop it from cheating and banding together with many other Wishiwashi, creating a monstrous fish the size of a whale. At this point in the game, I was thinking to myself, with my restrictions and game freaks consistent surprises, this would not be an easy play-through.

Back on the ranch I got an egg, excited, thinking it would be a new awesome Pokemon I had not yet seen, I thought it would be a fantastic new member of the team. Then it hatched. It was an Eevee, now don't get me wrong, Eevee isn't a bad Pokemon, it can change into 8 different types of Pokemon, but so many people use it!

After it hatched, my excitement turned to disappointment, and I threw it, no not placed it, threw it in the PC box, left to search for more members elsewhere.

Okay on this video, the trial took me off guard here and I miss-clicked the first time on which Alolan Marowak was different. I eventually got the hang of it, and proceeded to take down the Totem Pokemon after the elaborate game of what is different before and after game.

It surprised me when the hiker stepped in, wasn't expecting a guy in the trial, but whatever works right?

The Totem Pokemon was Salazzle, a Salandit can only become a Salazzle if it is female, the catch? Only 10% of Salandit are female. Good luck with that.

So remember how I placed a restriction on myself not to use the exp share during the play-through, it was at this point in time I was feeling the effects of that decision. The NPC Pokemon were on my Pokemon's level, and when that happened, it all came down to sending in a Pokemon who not only could take a hit, but could hit back and KO the opposing Pokemon without racking up too much residual damage.

Frankly, this didn't happen a lot, many of my Pokemon died over and over, not a happy time, still we trudged forward.

This part in the series was one of the most troll parts in this series. I'm pretty sure it was the hardest Boss fight in the game to be honest, and again with my restriction it was harder still. There was lots of stalling, lots of items being used, only to get beaten by a Castform at the end.

My biggest mistake? Using a revive on a living Pokemon, my only living Pokemon, and it counting as a move. I was kicking myself for it, didn't even want to count it as an episode so I put it as part 17.5. If only I had clicked a fainted Pokemon, but at least it was a good battle right?

This episode I came back with a vengeance. I still had my exp-share off, but I trained my Pokemon off camera, and came back with a more developed team.

This episode was much like the last one, and the title says everything I was praying to the mantis. It had to go down, I had to progress, and it eventually did. Hands down one of the hardest Boss battles in Sun and Moon, Forantis, The praying mantis Pokemon is definitely a threat, doesn't need the speed boost it gets from being a Totem Pokemon that's for sure.

In this part, wormholes are discussed, and one actually appears for a moment in the sky. It is epic foreshadowing of where we get to go, and what Gamefreak may think parallel dimensions may look like. All in all it is a nice concept for those interested in other universes that are like our own, but much different.

Say in one world we make a choice, but in another dimension somewhere we make another choice that we would not have made. Changing the course of life, and the world in some cases.

This was a funny episode, so these team skull guys are pretty intent on taking this Slowpoke's Tail. Disregard the thumbnail that is seen here, it's all about the Slowpoke and the derp face it gives whenever the game switches to it.

If any of you like to laugh at someone looking surprised, look no further than the slowpoke derp face, comes with wide eyes, open mouth and a sound that just screams what just happened?

So this part, two boss fights back to back, honestly nothing compared to the horrors of the Formantis Trial, Plumeria and the Second Grand Trial were easy in comparison.

Plumeria is a team skull admin, so she works for the antagonist team, and the grand trial specialist, well, she is kind of like Pokemon Gym battle number two, but really, it's more like a sub gym, being as there are Trials underneath Grand Trials and elite four with Grand Trials underneath them.

You ever have a crazy stalker person, or someone who seemed so obsessed with something they seemed like they could just become one with it at any second. You see the lady here on the left, that is her and her fixation with Ultra Beasts. Ultra Beasts are Pokemon that come from that alternate dimension I was talking about through a portal called a wormhole. Gamefreak's version of life in other dimensions. Anyways, point being, you can tell a person like that is likely to go off the deep end, which if the image I took doesn't say it all, she does get a bit too obsessed with it.

Deja Vu right? Professor Oak is here, and he is a bro! He got a major tan while on the islands, I mean look at that thumbnail right? Anyways, yep Professor Oak decides to make an appearance, I don't know if he's actually professor oak professor oak, because there was a bit of controversy in his dialogue, but it was nice to get a look at the professor for all you nostalgic 1st Gen people. :D

Anyways he starts explaining regional variants, ironic because he is the regional variant of Professor Oak.

Speaking of Bros, Diglett evolved, and Alolan Diglett, some of you may not know starts out with one hair to distinguish between Alolan and normal Diglett.

Well after he evolves, he gets lots of blonde locks. Alolan Dugtrio is basically Super Saiyan three at this point, I mean, just look at him. He's a bro right? :3

Main point of this episode is to capitalize on the fact that he now has hair!

Another trial, I tried something different for this one for all of you 1st Gen people, I blacked out the image and put a question mark there. How many of you got it without looking it up?

I can tell you I sure didn't, I didn't even know what Vikavolt was before I saw it, before I even heard it (Totem Pokemon often cry out before you battle them).

All in all I thought the edit turned out alright, but it still was kinda edgy, not bad for trying something different though right?

Okay, so we finally get to meet Team Skull's leader Guzma. Now his main pokemon is Gastropod, and it's evolved from Wimpod.

I didn't know this at the time, but if you get it down to half it's health points (HP) Wimpod will wimp out, and Gastropod with eject itself from battle. This to me was so troll, imagine having him right where you want him and his ability kicks in, switching him out immediately, honestly it would make it tough to set up any buffs either because they're erased the moment a Pokemon switches out. Poser Pokemon, what are you gonna do? :)

For this edit, I put red eyes on Mudsdale, because he was a pager Pokemon who had to walk on sharp rocks, who wouldn't be angry after that right? I put a smiley face on the owner because she's pretty troll in purposefully letting her horse trudge on sharp rocks.

All in all, we got Mudsdale as a ride pager, allowing progression within the game, and there are no complaints with that from me.

Ah, second Who's that Pokemon guessing game that people who watched the show remember. How many of you guessed it? I honestly probably would have guessed Pikachu at first glance, but we all know there's a new Pokemon on the block.

And his name is Mimikyu.

Mimikyu was interesting, again they recalled the camera function, which I did enjoy to an extent, hehe, took me forever to find Mimikyu, even though it was just right behind me.

In this part, I got a shark, whose sole purpose is to ram into boulders and smash them for me. Sad, but Gamefreak got rid of hidden machines (HMs) and I think we're all grateful for that.

Anyways, as illogical as it was to use a Sharpedo to ram through rocks, (I mean, in competitive battling it's so frail it can't even take a hit and you expect me to believe it can ram through boulders? Alright Gamefreak.) It was helpful in clearing the obstacles in the water, again progress was made!

At this point in the game i'm sure you're all wondering why team skull didn't name themselves team brain? Well, in this part, we found a wall with a hole in it, and they expected to keep us out, no one guarding the hole either.

Ah, team skull is entertaining, but a bit more skull than brains, which is probably a good thing, regardless, getting into the city you find the Pokemon Center isn't fully optimized. It costs a whole whooping $10 to use. (Oh no! My money!). Many battles resonated with old team hideouts from earlier generations.

I found this pretty hilarious, mostly because this may actually be accurate for girly girls (The ones who are a little too self centered) .In all seriousness, I appreciate what Gamefreak did here bringing light to the stereotype, as many people don't act like this only in the movies. :)

Regardless, same old same old, beat the team skull members down and progressing as usual.

How many people have found themselves in a spot where they could heal. What did this mean to you? In my experience that usually meant a hard boss fight right afterwards.

Now imagine my surprise when the guy in the thumbnail, that guy < heals my Pokemon and just...leaves, I was so confused.

He battles me later, like much later, but dang old man, talk about anti climactic.

So I forgot to explain this before, but remember that crazy lady I was talking about the one in play-through part 22? She's back, and she has back up.

In this part, we go through the evil Aether Foundation, a laboratory where they have been desperately trying to get into the alternate dimensions of Ultra Wormholes.

Much like any team in the previous generations, you battle a lot of them, it's kind of a running theme in Pokemon games so no surprises there.

For all of you who have played a Pokemon game on the GameCube, you get a real treat here. Whether it was Pokemon Colosseum, or Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, double battles are back!

There were an abnormal amount of double battles in this part, and maybe that was on purpose, as the people in the facility strongly resemble those cipher peons you see in the GameCube games, another sly reference to it's old games to perhaps subtly bring out nostalgia among players hoping for a trilogy in the shadow Pokemon department? Regardless, I like what they did with it.

In the older generations, player would only click on a bed for one reason, to heal their Pokemon.

Now, when I clicked on this bed, for some reason, that didn't happen, no my character just crawled in and closed his eyes.

What purpose? Seriously? I found it baffling and funny at the same time, it definitely earned it's place as a thumbnail for this video.

Ah yes, crazy Mrs. Lusamine, Lily's mother. She makes another appearance here, and surprise surprise she has strong pokes.

As you can read from the text on screen she preserved Pokemon in cryogenics and hoped to keep them there forever, in other words they could not move, in permanent stasis. All because she "loved them" too much. They couldn't move though, and it honestly comes to question, are they really living? o.o

The amount of burn KOs in this episode is absolutely ridiculous. Burns hit for 1/16 Hp of what a Pokemon has, very low kill power, usually used for cutting down a Pokemon's HP.

However in this episode you get a special treat of seeing it take down Pokemon who almost got KOed initially by an attack, but that little piece of residual damage is just enough to get the KO.

I honestly have no words for the thumbnail I have taken, but at the time, it was hilarious.

I mean if any of you have ever played Pokken Tournament, you know that being carried by a Machamp like this would look pretty silly.Definitely photo worthy though, post that to Snapchat. :D

In any case, the old woman hiding behind the wall was kinda creepy too, I had no idea what was happening in this part of the play-through but it was all pretty jam packed into a certain section of the game.

The one time I put a z power on my starter. I got the thumbnail on there just fine, but when it came down to it, guess what? The z move is copywrited, too many times it was posted on youtube. I either had to take it out, or take the video down, and heck no I ain't taking the video down.

After this part I took the z crystal off of my starter, and put the fire z crystal onto Growlithe, because his wasn't copywrited.

Ah another Grand Trial, she had all ground type Pokemon and at this part of the game, even though i was a bit under leveled because of my handicap, She was one of the easiest Trials in the game.

Basically I got Liligant, the evolved form of Petilil and proceeded to buff myself until I could sweep through her entire team. Gotta love quiver dance and growth, those moves can stack up fast.

Back to nostalgia, expect the Pokemon have grown up, now it's not Digletts from Diglett's cave or Zubats from dark cave keeping you up at night. Meet their evolved forms!

So many of them, I honestly am glad I had a few repels otherwise I think this play-through would have taken a lot longer, as both of these Pokemon shown here, if you haven't guessed it already are pretty fast speed wise.

Got a new batch of edits with updates, so wanted to try it out, and what other way than with the infamous Machamp princess carry. Ah, it still looks so wrong.

In any case, the princess carry made another appearance in this part, doesn't happen too often, in fact I believe this may be the last time in the series.

As far as Pokemon goes, this was the easiest Totem Pokemon, it went down after one hit to the face with moonblast. I expected it to be longer, so I saved a whole episode for it, but was kind of disappointed to be honest.

I mean if you look at the pokemon, ignoring the derpy expression, such a cool looking pokemon shouldn't be going down in one hit should it?

The Trial didn't last long, but it was progress!

So she started out with two arms right, and then she went to a parallel dimension where she has eight arms. She is Octomom, literally, she calls jellyfish in that realm her babies, and has the tentacles to prove it!

In all honesty, I thought she was dead and that was why everyone was so sad at the end, but Pokemon doesn't do that, so I guess it was just an emotional moment between mother and daughter. honestly though it had a tone of death there for quite a bit. Glad that Gamefreak is still keeping it PG.

At the pinnacle of our journey here at part 45, we get to see our two rivals, and battle them before the elite four.

They got some funny edits, completely opposite of one another I decided to give Gladion the cat eyed look, and Hau the derp expression to further highlight their personality traits. I think it worked pretty well.

Gladion fully evolved all his Pokemon his Golbat and Type Null required happiness to evolve, and Hau evolved all of his Pokemon as well.

Finally making it to the elite four, we see an old face, the guy who had that fiesty crab at the beginning of the game. It's now a slower, but more powerful snowcrab. He was a lot easier in the elite four than when he was at the lower levels. It might have something to do with Effort Values (EVs) but i'm not too sure, though they would stack later on in the game as opposed to prior.

Speaking of effort values it was around this time that I noticed my Pokemon had Pokerus, which doubles the EVs gained in battle for all you competitive battlers who get the reference.

I could say that the elite four gave me a hard time, but really, the harder battles were in the middle and the beginning. Even though the Elite four had higher levels, my Pokemon had higher EVs.

Anyways, about the legendary Pokemon being cut out of the videos, i'm kind of a perfectionist, I soft reset until I got a Lunala that I approved of and doing that on screen would take time, time you guys shouldn't have to sit through. Regardless, I got a timid natured one, and it was all fine and dandy.

Again, i'm sure there were times I was struggling with the Elite Four, but it wasn't too difficult, and nothing I had to redo like the Formantis Trial.

At this point in the game I was stocked with revives and full restores, all the healing items I got through playing Poke Plaza off screen, yes, that's where all the moomoo milk came from, and the lemonade, and the soda.

Not to mention Poke Pelago, where all the stones came from and how Growlithe and Petilil were able to evolve into Arcanine and Liligant.

Nearing the end of the game, I was wondering who the champion was going to be, seeing as both the people that were beaten before the elite four would be the only options.

It was fairly surprising to find out who it was, and i'll leave it a mystery for those of your who haven't yet beaten the game, though most people have.

The flying elite four member gave me some trouble in the form of Altaria, but cotton guard only went so far, and eventually I got around that.

This was it, this was the end, my first ever playthrough of a game on youtube. I felt exhausted, but proud. It was nice playing through this, and i'm glad I did it.

I was kinda sad on the limits of my recording, I would have recorded the credits, but there just wasn't enough time left on my camera. Regardless, I got the important things crammed into the thicket of the playthrough, and this image is the last image you get at the end of the game.

That concludes Pokemon Moon Silent Playthrough, I hope you all enjoyed it! :)
